I have done three Mauser conversion and am planning a fourth. Re: '09 argentine mauser action - what caliber? I'll try and post some pics of our project 91, its still in the white and we just barely proof fired it.Īs far as DBM, the 1891 already has it, but its an arcaic design and single stack. We're there as evil_monkey and those are the guys who can fill you in on all things mauser. Finding a nice stock without investing the value of the whole rifle is tough too. The 09 is by and far considered the best military mauser action for sporters as its strong enough for magnums and has gorgeous hinged bottom metal. I think you may have the 91 Argy confused with the 1909 Argy. The other drawback to the 1891 is that the lock time can be measured with a stop watch. We just built one in 7x57, and in the past have made nice rifles in 7.62x39 and 257 Roberts. BUT, it is still a small ring mauser, and as such is not suitable for modern high pressure rounds. With the absence of the claw extractor (with the sacrifice of CRF) it also has a somewhat stronger reciever ring as there is more material since the metal normally removed for the extractor cut is still there. The 1891 is one of the most sleek, and sexy mauser actions. Re: '91 argentine mauser action - what caliber?
